Abstract
Ξz.ast; resonances are not well known experimentally because the final states are topologically complicated and the production rate is very small. With the advent of the high-intensity secondary beam facility at J-PARC, S = -2 baryon spectroscopy will be revived for the first time since the bubble-chamber era in the 1960's, Exotic S = -2 states like Ξ- (1860) can also be searched for in K-p reactions close to threshold, in which background processes can be well identified. In the paper, production of Ξ* resoances in p(K-, K+)Ξ- πX reactions at 3 GeV/c and a search for the Ξ- state decaying into Ξ-π- are studied based on a Monte Carlo simulation.
