    Abstract

We synthesized hetero nanojunctions of π-conjugated polymer nanowires, such as poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT)-polypyrrole (PPy) and PEDOT-polythiophene (PT). The systems were synthesized in a nanoporous template of anodisc alumina oxide (Al 2O 3) by using a sequential electrochemical polymerization method. To discern the formation and the structure of the hetero nanojunctions of the PEDOT-PPy and the PEDOT-PT nanowires, we used a scanning electron microscope. The co-existence of PEDOT, PPy, or PT in the hetero nanojunctions of the polymer nanowires was confirmed through Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy spectra. We observed that the current-voltage (I - V) characteristic curves of the hetero nanojunctions of PEDOT-PT nanowires had a rectifying behavior.
