Abstract
Two-dimensional slab photonic crystal lasers with central posts are realized. In this structure, those modes with antinode at the center are suppressed by the presence of the central post. From a five-lattice-long photonic crystal cavity, single-mode operation is experimentally observed. Thermal characteristics are drastically improved in comparison to those of three free-standing slab structure.
