Skip play technology for home-use digital VCRs

    Abstract

    A skip play technology is proposed for noiseless variable-speed playback in home-use digital VCRs by using a novel phase error predictor. The proposed scheme needs no modifications in both the coding scheme and servo hardware, and allows noiseless playback at speeds up to 15-times normal in the forward direction.
