Abstract
The existence of surface waves in two-dimesional photonic crystal (PC) slab edges were demonstrated. The study was carried out by termination parameter, which was defined by shape of the truncated slab. The PC slab-edge structures were fabricated with finite-sized edge length to observe the slab-edge modes (SLEM). It was found that, when the normalizes frequency was plotted as function of termination parameter, the experimental data agree with theoretical results caused by imperfections in fabricated PC structure.
