Abstract

Spin tilting phenomenon in the strongly coupled antiferromagnetically coupled media was investigated. The degree of spin tilting was defined as standard deviation of magnetization direction within one written bit of top layer. It was found that the signal to noise ratio was inversely proportional to the degree of spin tilting. The smaller thermal decay in AFC media with high thickness resulted from increased energy barrier, caused by magnetostatic interaction between bits of top and bottom layer.
