Abstract
High-temperature reactions take place at or through the interface in metallurgical processes. The interfaces are slag-metal, slag-refractory, metal-inclusion, slag-inclusion, metal-gas, slag-gas interfaces, and grain boundary. In this chapter, definition of surfaces and interfaces has been suggested. The basic models of interface (Gibbs adsorption and Langmuir adsorption) are derived as well.
