    Abstract

    ±-Meroquinene (1; cis-3-ethenyl-4-piperideneacetic acid) and its trans epimer 2 were prepared via an allylic radical cyclization of ethyl (2EZ,8Z)-6-benzoyl-10-bromo-6-aza-2,8-decadienoate (15) in good yield.
