Abstract
The d ⟶ d electronic transitions of Mn(H2O)62+(aq) were studied over the temperature range of 25–250 °C in a solution of the perchlorate salt. The crystal field parameter 10Dq was found to decrease by about 1000 cm-1 while the Racah interelectronic repulsion parameters B and C remained fixed with increasing temperature. The Mn─O bond distance was found to increase by 3 ± 1% over the temperature range studied.
