Abstract

With the purpose of reducing energy consumption and increasing network connectivity, the cooperative communication (CC) technique has been adopted for topology control. In previous studies, the concept of transmit diversity, which adds partial signals using a maximum ratio combiner, had only been considered and never fully exploited for receiver diversity. In this paper, we introduce a novel topology control algorithm that uses a receiver diversity. Compared with existing topology control algorithms, proposed scheme shows significant improvements in connectivity, computational complexity, and average power consumption per communication link.
