N2 - The probabilities of bit error and false alarm depending on the state of code phase alignment were investigated. With the unified model including noises at the receiver and multiuser interference, bit error probability was found to vary sensitively as a function of received chip pulse power, photo detector responsivity, and equivalent receiver circuit noise. In case of single user, these noises formed the lower bound of transmission performance in case of single user. A method to analyze the effect of code synchronization misalignments and detector mismatches on the system performance was also provided.
