Abstract

The operation of volunteer computing application depends on the setting of user. Because the number of setting methodologies is diverse, it is difficult for ordinary users to apply an ideal setting to their volunteer applications. In this paper, we propose vcBalancer, a manager which periodically analyze the idle resources of volunteer system and dynamically apply the optimized user setting information to volunteer computing application. Our experiment shows that the vcBalancer improves the overall performance by 3% on average as compared with BOINC client's default configuration.
